Buying Land: How We Found Our Own Slice Of Paradise

Introduction

Finding your own slice of paradise is an elusive and often abstract concept. However, it is a dream that many of us aspire to achieve. , However, this could mean different things to different people – a remote island, a bustling city, or a peaceful countryside. It is the place you feel at home, at peace and fulfilled. For us it is a place on a hill near a tall mountain. In this blog post, we share our journey of finding our own slice of paradise and the lessons we learned along the way.

The search for buying land

Our search began with a desire to escape the chaos of noisy neighbours and the risk of theft and other sketchy stuff.  Some environments are just more stressful than others. However, we have found a place where we can truly unwind and live life on your own terms. How we found this place, it is quite a combination of patience, planning, and a little bit of luck.

What we want

As explained in the last post, we wanted to create a space that is uniquely ours, and that will satisfy all the family members. For a long time, we had been on the lookout for a lot of land. It was a challenge to find the perfect spot – one that was situated in a peaceful area, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and at an elevation that could help ease anxiety for fresh air. We were determined to find the best possible location for our needs, and we knew that it wouldn’t be an easy task.

What we did

Initially, we tried searching for land through the local real estate postings, but we soon realized that this wasn’t going to be successful. The properties available were extremely expensive and mostly not located where we wished it to be. Some properties were located in noisy and crowded areas, which didn’t meet our requirements. We then decided to explore other options, including seeking land from the local government.

What we learned

However, that too proved to be tiresome and unsuccessful, and we became convinced that it was time to take a different approach. We decided to be persistent in our search, and we started asking friends and family if they knew of land that might be suitable for us. Our family in turn, made inquiries and helped us find available lots that we might like. We asked around, reached out to people we knew, and even made some new connections along the way. Finally, our persistence paid off, and we came across a lot we loved. It was in an idyllic location.
