Breaking Ground: Time To Build Our New House

We have finally broken ground on a new piece of land. We are now excited to begin this journey, a new chapter, and the realization of a dream. Now, the process of acquiring that new land was not so simple, It forced us to plan carefully and make strategic decisions as this was an big investment. As this was our first time, we did overlook somethings along the way. Mostly, we learned to never underestimate the actions of some people. So I would say today, that you could never over-plan when it comes to building your own home. Building a home takes up a lot of your resources and time.

Now when you started this process, we had to take into consideration the location, accessibility, size, proximity to amenities, zoning regulations, permits, and legal aspects of building. Following through with all the red-tape can be quite costly also and would explain why in my country most people have to take a mortgage. One thing I noticced is that simplicity pulls you out of a big debt.

Our first issue was accessibility to the land. Though the location was perfect, the land we puchased ticked all the boxes we had in mind. Initially the land was not easily reachable from the main road, so we had to make sure to have a reserve road built to ensure convenient access. This was part of our purchase contract and the previous land owner was obligated to have this done. Now that it is done, we could easily travel to and from the land without any hassle. Trucks could deliver the building materials easily. However, the land is on a hill, so we expect other issues to arise. I will tell you more about this in other posts. On the whole, my advice is to make sure that the land is accessible. You can do like me, but you must make sure you put this in a contract with the seller. Some sellers are negligent, so watch out for such people.

Another important aspect was the size of the land. Originally the plot size was reasonable, and quite suitable for an average-sized house. We intend to build a house that is simple, modest in size, and allow for efficient use of resources. In other words, the windows should be large enough to let in much needed light and the roof build in a way to help us conserve water. We live in a tropical region, so this is very important. It would vary depending where you live. You might have to consider the wind direction as well.

After careful consideration and brainstorming, we have successfully formulated a comprehensive plan for our upcoming house and landscaping project. Our primary goal throughout this endeavor is to create a cozy and welcoming atmosphere that will make everyone feel at ease when they step foot into our home. To achieve this, we have meticulously designed a plan that takes into account the standout features of our location. By studying the surrounding environment and considering the architecture of our house, we have crafted a blueprint that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings.

Our intention is to create a harmonious and balanced space that not only complements the natural beauty of the area but also enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of our property. In terms of the house plan, we have focused on maximizing the use of available space while maintaining a sense of warmth and comfort. We have carefully chosen colors, textures, and materials that will contribute to the cozy ambiance we are striving to create. Furthermore, we have paid close attention to the layout and arrangement of furniture and decor to ensure a functional and inviting living space for ourselves and our guests. Moving on to the landscaping aspect of our plan, we have taken inspiration from the surrounding flora and fauna to design a garden that seamlessly blends with the natural elements. We have chosen plants and flowers that are native to our country.
